Rs 10K: Price for checking marked PU answer sheets
CHANDIGARH: Such that students dont cast aspersions on the marking done in entrance test answer sheets, Panjab University is all set to make the system more transparent. But that option wont come cheap at the cash-strapped varsity.
From next academic session onwards, PU would provide students with an option to seek their answer sheet of entrance test.
1x1 polls
After result declaration, if a candidate wishes to verify her result, she would be handed over a photocopy of the answer sheet after paying a massive Rs 10,000.
In case a discrepancy is found, the result would be revised accordingly. Also, question papers and keys would be uploaded on university website and objections regarding discrepancies and accuracy would be invited from all concerned in writing within 48 hours from the announcement of result.
In another move that would leave many feeling the pinch, those enrolled at University Institute of Applied Management and Sciences, Panjab University, under SC/ST category would have to pay a lot more to pursue the course.
In anticipation of the approval by Syndicate and Senate, vice-chancellor RC Sobti okayed the same fee structure for SC/ST students pursuing MBA (UIAMS) as being charged from general category candidates. The fee structure of general category is Rs 2 lakh per annum and SC/ST category candidates would have to shell out this amount for session 2009-10 instead of the earlier Rs 1,25,000.
The committee constituted to look into the matter unanimously resolved that if the ministry of social welfare is not in a position to reimburse fee difference, then the amount charged from SC/ST category students must be enhanced to the level of general category. There are around 40 seats under SC/ST category out of total 200 seats in MBA course. UIAMS and UIET run self-financing courses and thats why there is no monetary relaxation given to SC/ST students, said a fellow.
The PU Syndicate to be held on January 25 would also consider the recommendations of a committee constituted by the vice-chancellor to look into promotion of students from second semester to third semester after clearing 50% papers instead of 60% papers in BALLB (Hons) 5-year integrated course.
